A Hybrid Only Earns Its Slot by Filling a Real Gap

We treat a hybrid fitting as a set-composition question first and a distance question second — the loft has to close an actual window, not just add another club.

Starting From Your Set

We Fit Against Numbers You Already Have

Most players considering a hybrid already carry a long iron they're unhappy with — usually a 3- or 4-iron that launches too low or doesn't get in the air consistently. Rather than starting from a generic hybrid loft chart, we pull your existing carry numbers for that club and work backward to find a loft and head combination that produces a genuinely different, useful yardage.

That comparison matters more than most players expect: two hybrids stamped with the same loft can launch several yards apart depending on head design and center-of-gravity placement.

HY

A Mistake We Watch For

Picking a hybrid loft that matches the printed number on the iron it's replacing, without confirming it actually produces a different carry distance once it's in your hands.

Fitting Variables

What We're Actually Comparing on the Monitor

01

Carry-Gap Verification

Every candidate loft is checked against your longest iron and shortest fairway wood so the new club lands in a real, unused window in your carry distances.

02

Compact vs. Oversized Heads

Smaller, iron-like heads for players chasing a specific trajectory and feel; larger heads when forgiveness on off-center strikes matters more than shape control.

03

Shaft Transition

Length and flex set to bridge cleanly between your iron shafts and fairway wood shaft, so there isn't an awkward jump in feel at either end of the bag.

04

Rough & Fairway Verification

We hit shots off both a clean lie and a light-rough lie on the turf sled, since a hybrid is expected to handle conditions an iron typically can't.

Bring In Your Long-Iron Numbers

If you know roughly what your current 3- or 4-iron carries, we can usually tell within a few swings whether a hybrid closes a real gap for you.
